unbeatable functional benefits

The centrally located Radisson Blu Hotel in Rostock near the city harbor and the historic old town is a popular starting point for city travelers and beach lovers. The company used the lockdown period in 2021 to completely refurbish the 251 guest rooms. The public areas of the hotel had already been gradually remodeled and modernized beforehand. Oceanarchitects - specialists in tourism architecture development - created the new interior design concept. They used Vescom's vinyl wallcovering in all areas of the hotel.

In the course of the renovation, a new rooftop bar and 25 family rooms with space for four people were created. The hotel restaurant KAI40, the lobby and the 500 square meter sauna and fitness area were also given a new look. “Our design concept includes, among other things, guest rooms in an urban style, a maritime look for the restaurant and a warm and elegant ambience for the wellness area. Every furnishing detail was carefully selected, because furniture, fabrics, lighting, wall and floor coverings have to create a coherent overall picture," says Christian Klein, owner of the architectural office Oceanarchitects. He explains further: "When selecting the wallcovering, the diversity in Vescom's collection was really beneficial to us. The material properties of their vinyl wallcovering are simply unbeatable, especially for high-traffic areas such as corridors and guest rooms.”

easy-to-clean and disinfectable wallcovering for the wellness area

The architects also made no compromises to the colour concept. They asked Vescom to produce design Rainy in a special colour because the design concept envisaged a very specific, warm shade of gray for many of the wall surfaces. They chose design Ketoy in light gray for the extensive wellness and fitness area on the upper floor of the hotel. This vinyl wallcovering is known for its fine rib structure with a subtle sheen and has a luxurious textile look. Despite the light colour tone, it promises a flawless look in the long term, because it is exceptionally durable, very easy to care for and can even be disinfected if necessary.

In the lobby, the lift corridors and the rooftop bar entrance, the striking 3D design Shannon sets accents, while the reflective triangles by Aikin give the rooftop bar a hip and modern touch. The architects designed the walls of the conference rooms with the Florence silk look and integrated the whiteboard wallcovering Matte-rite, which can be used as a projection surface and for dry erase writing.
