To meet the strict global technical requirements of the contract market, all Vescom vinyl wallcovering undergoes both in-house and external testing. These tests determine the development of quality standards for our production.
Vescom vinyl wallcovering and Vescom Protect are tested for their suitability for contract use, including the degree to which they stand up to wear and tear, and their mitigation of safety concerns. Vescom Protect passes the highest standards for wallcovering, including its level of flame retardancy EN 13501, B s1 d0. Onari+protect and Colour Choice+protect pass EN 13501, B s2 d0.
Vescom has spent decades developing, manufacturing and distributing vinyl wallcovering for the contract market, leaving us with a wealth of in-house knowledge and expertise. We perform internal tests on every new development to secure a high degree of cleanability. In order to obtain official test certificates, external testing is conducted by certified independent test institutes.
Through our testing, we aim to obtain the highest possible quality when it comes to ease of cleaning, stain resistance and resistance to wear due to exposure to cleaning and disinfecting agents and methods, such as scrubbing and sponging. Vescom Protect has been tested according to the following criteria:
Internal and external testings, have proved enhanced stain resistance of Vescom Protect compared with standard vinyl wallcoverings.
Both standard vinyl wallcovering and Vescom Protect are tested externally and found to be ‘extra washable’ according to EN 12956.
Test results show excellent scrubbability performance of Vescom Protect, passing with all tested cleaners.
Vescom Protect shows excellent resistance against all tested cleaners, even solvents, acids and bases and against all tested disinfectants, even those based on alcohol and active chlorine.
Based on the test results, we suggest the following cleaning advice in addition to the standard cleaning instructions.
Antimicrobial agents come in the form of chemicals, including nanoparticles of metals, that are added to products during formulation or as an after treatment. The addition of these agents to wallcovering may be detrimental to human health, particularly for products that come into contact with water. In time, bacteria can become resistant to antimicrobials.
Rather than offering something potentially harmful, we want to safeguard human health. That’s why Vescom Protect is not antimicrobial, but can instead be cleaned with all kinds of disinfectants, including chlorine and alcohol-based solutions that safely kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. What’s more, disinfecting is more efficient and can be repeated ad infinitum. If applied correctly – taking into account ventilation and the post-application of water – disinfecting has no adverse side effects on health and wellbeing.
