Located in the heart of the gallery-rich Meatpacking District, within blocks of the public art space of the High Line and the famous Whitney Museum of American Art, Vescom’s New York home base demonstrates the contemporary office’s altered role.
As home and work life continue to blend, the ‘office’ has become a hybrid space. The beating heart of an organization. A collaborative hub and point of connection. A source of creative stimulation. A place for socializing and rest as well as productivity. Providing all of this and more, Vescom’s New York base is conceived as an inspiring ‘working brand office’, a place to instigate and develop ideas and relationships – within the Vescom team and with our clientele. It serves as the central point for connecting those from different parts of the US, as well as an office for our visiting foreign colleagues. What’s more, it unites our design and sales teams under one roof, emphasizing the synergy of everything Vescom does.
Synergy is also evident across Vescom’s product ranges, which are literally put to work in the working brand office. Instead of being shown as small product samples on standard displays, wallcoverings come to life on the walls, curtains provide the optimal light and acoustic conditions for working, and upholstery adds warmth and softness. These high-performance materials meet the demands and set the inviting and inspiring mood of the multifunctional workplace. In everywhere from dining spots to lounge and rest areas to dedicated desk zones they add tactility and comfort, qualities associated with the homeification of the office.
Visitors exit the elevator into the core of the space, where our design team is busy developing new collections out in the open. We don't only design our own products, but produce them, too. With facilities in the US, Germany and the Netherlands, Vescom has a wealth of in-house expertise in upholstery and curtain textiles and vinyl wallcovering. Drawing from this extensive knowledge, which has been accumulating since Vescom’s outset over 50 years ago, our team can advise architects and designers on the best material solutions for their interior projects.
Vescom has homes in London, Milan, Stockholm, Madrid, Shanghai and more – no two are identical, but they all share a distinct connection to their location. In New York, the building’s industrial feel relates to its Meatpacking District site while harking back to Vescom’s industrial manufacturing roots in the Netherlands, a heritage reaffirmed through subtle Dutch details inside. Translating the energy and dynamism of the district from the street to the interior, Amsterdam-based interior architect Bas van Tol intensified and elevated the views they offer across New York, essentially capturing the city in a frame.
Vescom’s New York home base marks a significant step in the process of strengthening our presence in North America, which includes a striking architectural addition to Vescom America’s HQ and production facility in Henderson, North Carolina. Vescom is represented in the US by Koroseal, and Vescom’s materials can be found on Material Bank.
